Karen S. Page

May 14, 1953 — July 21, 2021

Karen S. Page, 68, of Indianapolis, passed away at her residence on July 21, 2021 surrounded by her family after a courageous battle with lung cancer. Karen was born on May 14, 1953 in Indianapolis to the late Fernando and Barbara (Jett) Narezo.

Karen graduated from Emmerich Manual High School. On September 4, 1982 in Greenfield, Indiana Karen wed James D. “Jim” Page. Together they raised their two precious daughters, Lisa and Karla. Described as more than a mother, but rather their most supportive confidant, Karen guided her daughters through life with compassion and words of wisdom through all of life’s challenges and celebrations.

After 20 years of dedicated service to her position as a library page, Karen retired in the fall of 2020 from the Indianapolis Public Library, Southport Branch. Prior to her tenure at the library, Karen worked at Creations Craft Shop. Karen was very creative and had an eye for interior design. Decorating for the Holidays was a tradition she found so much joy in; from the Christmas montages in each room of her home to her perfectly wrapped gifts, every single Christmas in the Page home was made magical by Karen’s talent. A family holiday wasn’t complete without Karen’s famous Christmas chili or her Thanksgiving sweet potato casserole; she was an excellent cook making each recipe from memory.

When not working at the library or spending time with her family, Karen could be found spending time with her “gal pals” typically shopping or grabbing a coffee together. Whether it was going out to eat for Ruth Chris with Jim or to grab Mexican food with her family, she loved sharing a meal with those she loved. She also enjoyed travelling with her most memorable being the Page’s annual trips to King’s Island and her beloved Myrtle Beach. A lover of feline companions, Karen’s precious cats, Mittens, Henrietta, and Crackers preceded her in death.

Karen could fix just about anything; her home was meticulously kept from the inside to her gardens and landscaping outside. Not only was her home well kept, but so was she; she never left the house without being well-put together from her nails to her hair. Karen’s enduring pride for her family, her friends, and her home will be treasured by those she leaves behind.
Having a one-of-a-kind personality that could light up a room, Karen had the ability to make friends with just about anyone she met. She was effortlessly able to make every single person in her presence feel like they were important and cared for. Her strong-willed words of wisdom, loving memories, and genuine, caring nature will be greatly missed by all her friends and family.

Survivors include her husband of 39 years, James D. “Jim” Page; her daughters, Lisa (Quinton) Swanigan and Karla (Justin) Carmer; her grandchildren, Natasha (Matthew) Spencer, Justin Ferguson, India Swanigan, and Ella Reinhart; her great grandchildren; James Ferguson and Alivia Spencer; her sister, Anna (Robert) Everhart; and a host of friends and extended family members.
