Dorothy Marilyn Gutzwiller

Dorothy M. Gutzwiller, 85 of Indianapolis, died peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, August 27, 2022. She was born July 24, 1937, in Indianapolis to Harold and Dorothy Brooks Sprong.

On July 28, 1956, Dorothy married the love of her life John Gutzwiller, and they were married for 62 years until his death in 2018. Dorothy was a charter member of St. Barnabas Catholic Church.

Dorothy was a Indianapolis Colts fan and enjoyed watching other sporting events, especial the Indianapolis 500. Dorothy enjoyed just being with her family, her children, grandkids, and great grandkids. They were the greatest joy in her life. She loved being GiGi.

Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents. Her beloved husband of 62 years John L. Gutzwiller, daughter Vickie Lynn Gutzwiller, sister Barbara Woehler.

She is survived by her children John P. (Anna) Gutzwiller, Joseph Michael (Julie) Gutzwiller, 14 grandchildren, Adam (Rachel), Jeff, Brandon (Rachel), Jessica, Jake, Ben, Samantha, Joshua (Jamie), Ryan (Christina), Jeremy (Arika), Marissa (Greg), Austin (Claire), Stephanie, and Aaron (Olivia): and 13 great grandchildren, Owen, A.J., Jace, Gavin, Coraline, Theo, Eleanor, Isabelle, Logan. Kaleb, Kameron, Grayson and Taylor.

Family and friend will gather to celebrate Dorothy’s life from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm Tuesday, August 30, 2022, at O’Riley Branson Funeral Service and Crematory, 6107 South East Street, Indianapolis. Morning Prayers will be Wednesday August 31 at 9:30 am at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:00 am, Wednesday, August 31 at St. Barnabas Catholic Church, 8300 Rahke Road, Indianapolis, Indiana 46217. Entombment will be at Calvary Cemetery.
