William E. "Bill" Kamradt

March 22, 1932 — January 8, 2022

William E. "Bill" Kamradt , 89, of Indianapolis, passed away in the early morning hours of January 8, 2022, with his children by his side at Community South Hospital.

Bill was the youngest of four children born to Ed and Martha Lorraine Kamradt on March 22, 1932. He was raised in East Jordan, Michigan. Bill graduated with academic honors diploma from East Jordan High School in 1949 and was granted a scholarship to Michigan State College from which he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Metallurgical Engineering in May 1953. At Michigan State College, Bill was an ROTC cadet and was commissioned upon graduation, entering active duty in the U.S. Army in October 1953.

While in college Bill met and courted Virginia Kaiser, who he married in Grosse Pointe, Michigan on February 27, 1954, while on leave between military duty stations. Their honeymoon consisted of driving to Ft. Hood, Texas where Bill served until November 1955 when he was released from active-duty service. They moved back to Michigan and made a home for themselves and their family, in Madison Heights. Bill's job required that he relocate his family to Indianapolis, Indiana in 1981 where they resided the rest of their lives.

In November 1955 Bill took employment with Chrysler Corporation and held several positions: 1955-1966 Central Engineering, Test and Development Engineer; 1966-1981 Huber Avenue Foundry, Plant Metallurgist and Quality Control Manager; 1981-1989 Indianapolis Foundry, Product Engineering/Quality Control Manager. He retired from the Indianapolis Foundry on October 31, 1989, after 34 years of service.

In his spare time, Bill enjoyed painting, woodworking, genealogy and the restoration of the 1930 Model A Ford truck that his father had purchased when it was new and used it to support his family through the depression. Bill absolutely loved animals, especially dogs. He was a devoted Catholic and a member of St. Mark Catholic Church. He enjoyed assisting as a eucharistic minister and counting the offering.

Bill was a planner, always ready to help anyone. He was highly intelligent and always curious about learning new things. Always living by The Golden Rule, Bill encouraged his children to treat others as they wished to be treated. Bill will be remembered as a man with a great sense of humor, full of love for everyone, from his family to complete strangers. He will be greatly missed.

Along with his parents and wife of 51 years, Bill was preceded in death by his siblings, Elizabeth Bender-Losh, Carl Kamradt, and John Kamradt.

Survivors include his children, Theresa M. (Cody) Jones, Brian E. (Ulla) and Eric L. (Danielle) Kamradt; his grandchildren, Samantha, David, Michael, Max, Erica, Anna, Sarah, Paul, and Benjamin; and his great grandchildren, Katie, Claire, Roman, Addison, Remington, Mila, and one on the way; Theresa Kamradt, who was like a daughter to Bill; a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
