Carl H. LaMantia, 92, Indianapolis, passed away June 14, 2018. Mr. LaMantia was born January 21, 1926, in Cincinnati, to the late Vincent and Concetta (Capera) LaMantia. Carl married Marian Martini on June 16, 1956, and she preceded him in death in 2011.
Mr. LaMantia proudly served in the United States Army during World War II. He later retired from the United States Army Reserves as a Captain, after more than 20 years of service. He graduated from the University of Cincinnati and earned his law degree from Northern Kentucky University. He was a Claims Adjudication Officer for the Veterans Administration for 31 years, retiring in 1986. A part of America’s Greatest Generation, Mr. LaMantia was strongly devoted to representing our veterans. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 3630, the American Legion, and St. Barnabas Catholic Church, where he served as an usher and lector. He also enjoyed bowling, playing golf, and was a member of the Indianapolis Bocce Club. Above all, he was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather.
In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by a son, John Paul LaMantia, who passed in 1990.
Survivors include his children, Janet M. Sanders, Peter A. (Dawn), Ann M. Sidener, Jean M. (Steve) Kiesel, Carl V., Anthony M. (Anna Douglas), Joseph D.; sister, Josephine Rolman; 11 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be on Monday, June 18, 2018, 4 to 8 p.m., in the Daniel F. O’Riley Funeral Home, where morning prayers will be said at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 19, 2018. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Tuesday, in St. Barnabas Catholic Church. Entombment will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
