Fishers, Indiana

Erik Robert Thompson, a beloved soul who touched the hearts of many, passed away on April 14, 2024, in Fishers, Indiana.  Erik was born on May 18, 1969, in Highland, Indiana, to his loving parents Robert and Mary (Schafer) Thompson. 

In his journey through life, Erik accomplished much and left a lasting impact on those around him.  He pursued his education at Highland High School and later graduated from IU Kelly School of Business.  His professional path led him to Amazon.  He also oversaw and managed the delivery of phone books across America which gave him the privilege to travel the country and have new life experiences.  

 Erik was not just defined by his career but also by his passions and interests.  He found joy in the thrill of motorcycle adventures.  His love for BMX Bike Racing earned him recognition as #6 in the State of Indiana.  Erik’s spirit truly shined as he participated in the prestigious IU Little 500 bicycle race.  Additionally, he had a knack for growing hot peppers, adding a spicy zest to his life.  

 Beyond his accomplishments, Erik will be fondly remembered for the warmth of his personality.  He was cherished by all who knew him and shared a special bond with his loyal four-legged companion, Ozzie.  

 Erik leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories with his parents Robert and Mary Thompson and partner Shelly Bostic.  He will be deeply missed by his sister Cynthia (Bryan) Benedict, nephews Brandon Benedict, Derek Benedict, Trevor (Nicole) Gray, niece Mackenzie (Rory) Gray-Packard, and brother-in-law Brian Gray.  He was preceded in death by his dear sister Susan Gray.  

 A visitation to honor Erik’s life will take place on June 30, 2024, from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at O’Riley - Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, 6107 S. East Street, Indianapolis, Indiana 46227.  A Celebration of Life ceremony will follow at 3:00 PM at the funeral home.

 In celebration of Erik’s life, the family requests that you wear your favorite Hawaiian shirt for his service.

 In memory of Erik, memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association https://www.diabetes.org or to the Hoosier Mountain Bike Association https://www.hmba.org/membership.
