Judith A. Rossman

July 13, 1946 — April 19, 2024

Indianapolis, Indiana

Judith Anne (DeVore) Rossman, born on July 13, 1946, in Franklin, Indiana, peacefully passed away on April 19, 2024, in Indianapolis, Indiana. She was the beloved daughter of Leon and Norma Jean Blankenship DeVore.

Judy is survived by her husband, Jack Rossman, her daughter Courtney (Adam) Shepherd, her sons Russell (Beth Ellis) Rossman and Ryan (Annemarie) Rossman, her brothers John (Toni) DeVore and Doug (Mary) DeVore and many nieces and nephews. Judy was affectionately called “Mamma Mia” by her cherished grandchildren Eli, Sophia, Dominic, Matthew, Penny, Gio, Rodney, and Oliver.

On February 28, 1976, Judy married the love of her life, Jack Rossman, and together they built a beautiful life filled with love and laughter. She graduated from Franklin Community High School in Franklin, Indiana, and later partnered with her husband as owners and operators of Air Cleaning Specialist. Judy would oftentimes take certain advantages of her position by arriving at work at 11:30 am so that she could go on an extended lunch break with her friends at noon. She definitely knew how to work the clock as well as her partner.

Judy was a dedicated member of St. Barnabas Catholic Church, where she found solace and community. She was known for her vibrant personality, unique laugh, and love for life. Judy had a unique sense of style, well dressed often donning animal print clothing and sparkling footwear. Even in her gift-giving, there was no mistaking who the gift-giver was because of her animal print wrapping paper. She was a friend to all who met her and will truly be missed by all who knew her.

In her free time, Judy enjoyed being part of the Sister’s of St. Benedict fashion shows, showcasing her fashionable taste and spreading joy to those around her. She found joy in staying active with friends and family, playing golf, and engaging in friendly card games. Judy was a devoted grandmother who took great delight in attending her grandchildren's sporting events, cheering them on with unwavering support and love.

Judy was an 18-year survivor of colorectal cancer. She took the initiative of a cancer screening after her father passed away of the same illness. At that time she was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. With proper treatment by excellent healthcare providers she was able to maintain an active and fulfilling lifestyle. She encouraged all those around her to take the initiative as well; this is a lifesaving procedure.

Judith Anne Rossman will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her legacy of love, kindness, and vibrant spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of those she touched. May she rest in peace. Happy Trails Judy!
