Margaret Helen (Higgins) Robisch passed peacefully away October 31, 2021, fulfilling her dream to get noticed in the obits section. She was born in Indianapolis on May 14, 1928 to the late Karl and Audrey (Oberting) Higgins. Margaret was a High School graduate of St. Agnes Academy, in Indianapolis and earned a Degree from Mount Saint Joseph University in Cincinnati, Ohio.
She worked with her family in numerous businesses, most notably Higgins Restaurant and Gift Shop, a longtime Southside Indianapolis business landmark on the corner of Shelby and Raymond Streets. Once called “The Don Rickles of Shelby Street,” she was known for heckling customers who ordered desert before eating their vegetables. Margaret's passion was the Gift Shop -- one of the first Hallmark Gold Crown stores in Indiana. Margaret was a very active member of St. Jude Catholic Church and was always involved in numerous church and service organizations. She also enjoyed traveling with a close group of friends called “the Dirty Dozen.” Greece was one of her favorite destinations.
Beside her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years Robert C. Robisch; infant son Michael Robisch; infant daughter Mary Beth Robisch; and brother-in-law Thomas E. Quill, Jr. She is survived by her sons Robert K. (Jill) Robisch and James T. (Susan) Robisch; grandchildren Katherine A. Robisch (Rank Dawson, III) and James R. Robisch; and sister Rosemarie Quill, as well as her nieces, grandnieces and grandnephews, great-grand nieces and -nephews, and many across the Southside who called her “Aunt Maggie.”
