Rita Anne (Brady) Sullivan

Rita Anne (Brady) Sullivan, 84, lifelong resident of Indianapolis, passed away on November 28, 2021 at Greenwood Meadows. Rita was born on February 28, 1937 in Indianapolis to the late Michael J. and Hannah (McGinley) Brady, both who hailed from Ireland.

Rita attended St. Catherine grade school in Indianapolis and went on to graduate from St. Mary’s Academy. She had a very successful career for over 30 years at Fort Benjamin Harrison in Civil Service for the US Government as a Transportation Supervisor. After retirement, Rita took pleasure in taking classes and tutoring through Oasis Institute. She enjoyed traveling, reading, playing bingo, and spending time with family and friends.

Rita is preceded in death by both parents, her daughters, Donna J. (Sullivan) Eddy, and Karen A. Sullivan; siblings, John M. Brady, James Brady, Mary B. Blank, Katherine “Teresa” Wilcoxon and Francis D. Brady.

Survivors include, her daughter, Patricia J. “Patty Jo” Covalt-Jay; son-in-law, James R. (Rick) Jay, sister, Eileen R. Roberts-Green; six grandchildren, Mark Sullivan, Angela (Eddy) Bannister, Brandon Covalt, Meghan Covalt, Sabrina (Jay) Bartel, and James Jay; twelve great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, December 8, 2021 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at O’Riley Funeral Home, 6107 South East St., Indianapolis, Indiana 46227, in consortium with Celebration of Life ceremony of Francis D. Brady. A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, December 9, 2021 at 10:30 AM in the funeral home. Burial will follow at Holy Cross/St. Joseph Cemetery.
